Mitcham Removals

The date

Book before you have one

On these moves you control exactly one line of the ledger, and it is the booking. Everything else is set by a landlord, a letting officer or another family. That is why we hold provisional dates at no cost and move them as many times as they need moving — being ready is the only part of this you can actually get ahead of.

Who controls what

  1. The offer

Somebody else decides this and tells you. Until it happens there is nothing to plan around, and once it happens everything moves at once.

  2. Provisional booking

The one part of the whole process that is entirely in your control, and the one people leave latest. It costs nothing and it can be moved as often as it needs to be.

  3. Sign-up or exchange date

Confirmed, and frequently sooner than the wait beforehand would have suggested. This is when a provisional date becomes a real one.

  4. The move

Sequenced around whatever else is happening that week — deliveries, a void inspection, another household moving in the opposite direction.

  5. Handing the old place back

Cleared, clean and inspected. What counts as acceptable is set by the landlord and written down, so it is worth reading rather than guessing.

How a provisional booking works

There is genuinely no catch in it

You tell us roughly when you think the move will happen and roughly what you have. We pencil it in. Nothing is paid, nothing is committed, and we do not chase you.

When the date changes — and on these routes it frequently does — you tell us and we move it. There is no charge for that and no limit on how many times. If the offer falls through entirely, you tell us and we take it out of the diary.

The reason we work this way is simple: on a social housing move the gap between "confirmed" and "moving" is frequently much shorter than the wait that came before it. A firm that only takes confirmed bookings is a firm you cannot use on this route.

Short notice

Normal here, and not charged as an emergency

Transfers and sign-ups land quickly. Exchanges get agreed and then need doing. On a private house move short notice is exceptional and priced accordingly; on these routes it is simply how it works, so it is quoted the same as any other job.

What short notice does change is what is possible. Tell us as early as you can — even before you are certain — and almost anything can be arranged. Tell us at the last moment and we will do our best, but the options get narrower.

What comes with every booking

  • A provisional date held at no cost

Before anything is confirmed, moved as many times as it needs moving, and cancelled without a fuss if the offer falls through.

  • Short notice treated as normal

Because on these routes it is. A date landing sooner than expected is not an emergency and it is not charged as one.

  • Discretion in the building

We do not announce who we are or why we are there. Unmarked, quiet, and gone.

  • Clearing what is not coming

Taken away under our waste carrier duty of care with the paperwork, so the old property goes back clear rather than with a pile in the hall.

  • Halls, stairs and frames protected

At both ends, on every job. It matters for a void inspection and it matters even more for a private deposit.

  • Storage across a gap

Where the dates do not meet. Sealed once and delivered when you have keys, rather than unpacked and repacked in between.
