Who we are
Mitcham Removals is the data controller for information you send through this website. Our contact address for data protection matters is hello@mitchamremovals.uk.
What we collect
When you get in touch we collect your name, phone number, email address, both addresses, your expected date if you give one, and whatever you write in the notes. If you email us, we hold the contents of that email.
The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. Google receives technical information about the request in order to tell a person from an automated submission, subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.
What we do not ask for and do not want
We do not ask why you are moving, and we would rather you did not tell us. We do not need your tenancy reference, your housing application number, your benefit details, any medical information beyond what is needed to put things in the right place, or anything about your circumstances.
If you send us information of that kind anyway, we will not pass it on and we will delete it with the rest of the file.
Landlords, housing officers and support workers
We do not contact your landlord, your housing association or your local authority about you, and we do not confirm to them that you have booked, unless you have asked us to in writing.
Where you nominate somebody to act for you — a relative, a friend, a support worker or a housing officer — we hold their name and a contact number for the job only, and we deal with them only about the arrangements.
Neighbours and other residents
We do not tell anybody in your building or on your street who we are, who we are working for, or why we are there. That applies whether or not anybody asks.
The other household on an exchange
Where you are exchanging, we will usually speak to the other family’s remover to agree the order of the day. What we share is the address, the date and the plan. We do not share your contact details, your circumstances or anything from your notes.
Why we hold it
To quote and to do the job. That is our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you started, and where you book, performance of a contract with you.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we do not sell or pass them to lead-generation companies.
Who else sees it
Our own staff and crew, and our hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf under contract. If your move involves storage, we share only what the facility needs.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted once they are plainly stale, including provisional bookings that never happened. Completed jobs are kept for as long as we need them for accounting, insurance and claims purposes, and then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@mitchamremovals.uk. If you are not satisfied with how we handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
