Mitcham Removals

Removals in Mitcham, CR4 and across Merton

For moves where somebody else sets the date.

A mutual exchange, a transfer, a new tenancy, or getting out of private renting into a secure one. No chain, no solicitor, no completion — just a landlord or another family deciding when, usually at shorter notice than anybody would choose.

So we hold the date for nothing, move it as many times as it needs moving, and treat short notice as normal rather than as an emergency.

Your home Their home you go they go
Neither place is empty. That is the whole problem, and it is a sequencing problem rather than a carrying one.

Which move is this

Four routes, and only one of them is yours to schedule

They are not variations on a house move. Each has its own mechanics, its own paperwork and its own particular worry.

Date set byYou and the other household, together

A mutual exchange

Two households swapping homes, usually on the same agreed day. It is the only kind of move where somebody is arriving at your address while you are still leaving it.

The worry That the other side will not be ready. It happens, and the answer is to have talked to their remover in advance so there is a plan for it rather than an argument.

Date set byYour landlord

A transfer

You have been offered a different property by the landlord you already have. Usually because the one you are in has become wrong — too small, too big, up too many stairs, or being worked on.

The worry That you will not be ready if the date lands sooner than expected. Book provisionally as soon as you have an offer; it costs nothing and it removes the whole problem.

Date set byThe letting officer

A new tenancy

A property has been allocated and you are signing for it. Often after a long wait, often out of temporary accommodation, and almost always with less warning than the wait would suggest.

The worry That it will all land at once. It usually does. Tell us what else is being delivered and we will work round it rather than adding to the pile.

Date set byTwo landlords at once

Out of private renting

Leaving a private tenancy for a secure one. The best move on this list and the most administratively awkward, because two landlords are involved and neither of them is coordinating with the other.

The worry Losing the deposit on the way out. Photograph everything before anything moves, and tell us it is a private tenancy so the protective work is priced in from the start.

The date you did not choose

You control one line of this

On these moves you control exactly one line of the ledger, and it is the booking. Everything else is set by a landlord, a letting officer or another family. That is why we hold provisional dates at no cost and move them as many times as they need moving — being ready is the only part of this you can actually get ahead of.

  1. The offer

Somebody else decides this and tells you. Until it happens there is nothing to plan around, and once it happens everything moves at once.

  2. Provisional booking

The one part of the whole process that is entirely in your control, and the one people leave latest. It costs nothing and it can be moved as often as it needs to be.

    You
  3. Sign-up or exchange date

Confirmed, and frequently sooner than the wait beforehand would have suggested. This is when a provisional date becomes a real one.

    Landlord or exchange partner
  4. The move

Sequenced around whatever else is happening that week — deliveries, a void inspection, another household moving in the opposite direction.

    Us, with you
  5. Handing the old place back

Cleared, clean and inspected. What counts as acceptable is set by the landlord and written down, so it is worth reading rather than guessing.

What we don’t ask

A removal is somebody coming into your home

A removal is somebody coming into your home, looking at your things and carrying them out past your neighbours. For a lot of people on this site that is a harder day than the trade tends to acknowledge, so here is what we do not do.

The whole of it
  • Why you are moving

It is not our business and it does not change the job. We need to know which route you are on because it tells us who sets the date — not why you are on it.

  • What happened at the old address

Plenty of moves on this site are people leaving something difficult. We do not ask, we do not speculate in front of you, and we do not discuss it with anybody afterwards.

  • Anything in front of your neighbours

We do not say who we are or why we are there to anybody in the building. On an estate or in a block, that discretion is worth more than most of what a removals firm can offer.

  • For a decision you are not ready to make

If you are not sure yet whether the move is going ahead, book provisionally anyway. We will not chase you, and we will not treat a cancellation as a problem.

Included as standard

Not extras, and not a tier

  • A provisional date held at no cost

Before anything is confirmed, moved as many times as it needs moving, and cancelled without a fuss if the offer falls through.

  • Short notice treated as normal

Because on these routes it is. A date landing sooner than expected is not an emergency and it is not charged as one.

  • Discretion in the building

We do not announce who we are or why we are there. Unmarked, quiet, and gone.

  • Clearing what is not coming

Taken away under our waste carrier duty of care with the paperwork, so the old property goes back clear rather than with a pile in the hall.

  • Halls, stairs and frames protected

At both ends, on every job. It matters for a void inspection and it matters even more for a private deposit.

  • Storage across a gap

Where the dates do not meet. Sealed once and delivered when you have keys, rather than unpacked and repacked in between.

What people say

Exchanges, transfers and sign-ups

They rang the other family’s removers a week before and sorted out who was loading first. Exchange day was the calmest part of the whole thing.
Denise M. Mutual exchange, Pollards Hill
Booked provisionally before we had a date and then moved it twice. Nobody chased us once, and when the offer finally came through they just turned up.
Yusuf A. Transfer, Eastfields
Nobody in the block knew what was going on and that was exactly what I wanted. No van signage, no conversations on the landing.
Name withheld New tenancy, Mitcham
My stuff was in two places — my mum’s and a storage unit. They collected from both on the same job instead of charging me twice.
Chantelle B. New tenancy, Figges Marsh
Coming out of a private let into a council place. They photographed the old flat empty and I got my deposit back without an argument for once.
Robert I. Out of private renting, Colliers Wood
The new flat was for my mobility and they put everything where I could actually reach it instead of just in the right room. Nobody has ever done that.
Pauline S. Medical transfer, Morden

Questions

The ones we actually get

Grouped by exchanges, transfers and new tenancies, the place you are leaving, and working with us.

All questions
We are exchanging. Do you talk to the other family’s remover?

Yes, and it is the single most useful thing anybody does on an exchange day. Two households swapping with two removers who have never spoken to each other is the reason exchange days turn into gridlock.

Give us the other side’s contact and we will agree in advance who loads first and who unloads first, so nobody is standing on a doorstep with a full van.

What if the other side is not ready?

It happens, and it is not a disaster if there is a plan. That is exactly why we speak to their remover beforehand — so there is an agreed answer rather than an argument on the day.

Where it genuinely cannot be resolved, your things can go into store overnight rather than sitting in a van or a hallway.

The place we are swapping into is smaller.

Very common, and it is much better decided at the survey than on the pavement. We will tell you plainly what will not fit, and we can take away anything you are not keeping.

What we would ask is that nothing gets left behind for the incoming family. They are real people you have met, and it makes their day considerably worse.

We do not have a confirmed date yet. Can we still book?

Yes, and you should. A provisional date costs nothing, we will move it as many times as it needs moving, and if the offer falls through we will cancel it without any fuss.

It is the only part of this process you actually control, and leaving it until the date is confirmed is how people end up scrambling.

The date came through at short notice.

Normal on these routes rather than exceptional, and we are set up for it. Short notice is not treated as an emergency callout and it is not priced as one.
